BBC Worldwide have announced that it is looking for five brave competitors to take part in the BBC Brit-athon; a 24-hour competition which will see contestants battle it out over a series of intellectual and physical challenges to win an all-expenses paid trip to London.

The competition marks the launch of 24 hour channel BBC Brit on DStv yesterday, a brand new male-skewing factual entertainment channel showcasing the very best in quick witted entertainment. The channel is the home of all new future episodes of Top Gear and covers a rich variety of topics; cars, science, adventure, business, life-changing moments, extreme characters, quirky eccentrics and comedy.

To have a chance at taking part in the competition, potential contestants can enter online at Yworld.co.za/BBCBRIT. Daily winners will be announced on the YFM Morning drive show airing 6-9am from 7th-11th September.

At the end of the week, the five chosen competitors will then take up residency in a special ‘Brit box’ situated in The Zone, Rosebank from 12:00 Midday and remain there for 24 hours.

The contestants will take part in a series of intellectual and endurance challenges based on BBC Brit programming. At each stage they can gain or lose points, with the winner only being announced after 24 hours.  AND they have to do all of this in full view of the public who can stop by and see how they are faring.

The competition will be judged by an ultimate Media panel and DJ AnkleTap from YFM who will broadcast live from outside the Brit Box from 11am on Saturday 12th, revealing and interviewing the winner at 12:00 Midday.

The winner will be treated to all-expenses paid trip to London for two with experiences such as an official London tour, a visit to Stamford Bridge- Home to Chelsea Football club, a tour of the BBC, and a trip on the London Eye.

Joel Churcher Vice President and General Manager Africa, BBC Worldwide said: “The BBC Brit-athon is a really fun and engaging way of bringing our new BBC Brit channel to life. Just like this competition the channel offers entertainment with brains and edge, mixing fact with fun. I wish the contestants the best of luck and am looking forward to meeting our winner”.
