“Comedy Central roast of Justin Bieber” to tape in Los Angeles, CA
Comedy Central (channel 122) is turning up the heat on pop icon Justin Bieber. The network announced today that Bieber will be this year’s Roastee. The “Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber” will tape in Los Angeles on 14 May and premiere on Comedy Central on 1 April at 21:10 CAT.
“Justin has been asking us for a few years to roast him, and we just kept telling him to go create more source material first. We’re thrilled he listened,” said Kent Alterman, President, Content Development & Original Programming, Comedy Central.
Added Evert van der Veer, Head of Comedy Central, Africa, “The Roast franchise just keeps getting better and better – just when you’re thinking ‘who else is there left to roast?’ we go and secure a pop culture phenomenon like Justin – a stroke of ‘unbeliebable’ comic genius!”
Justin Bieber is the latest in a long line of celebrities and entertainment figures to have braved the role of Comedy Central Roastee. Previous Roast alumni have included Charlie Sheen, David Hasselhoff, Joan Rivers, Rosanne Arnold, Kenny Kunene, Donald Trump and Steve Hofmeyer.
