Disney Channel South Africa to produce first ever local show

disneyDisney Channel South Africa has joined forces with one of the country’s most popular youth television presenter’s, Ivana Morailane, for its first ever local lifestyle show, I Love Violetta.

The first South African Disney Channel local production, I Love Violetta, is a brand new companion series that will launch later in the year together with the all-singing, all-dancing third season of the hit telenovela Violetta on Disney Channel, channel 303 on DStv.

In another first, a nationwide talent search for three presenters to front the series has kicked off, with entries now open on both the Disney website and mobisite until Friday, 12 June.

Giving South African fans a front row seat to the excitement of the auditions, workshops and filming, Ivana Morailane will be taking viewers behind the scenes of I Love Violetta later this year, through a series of short films to be hosted online. Morailane will lend her years of expertise and presenter know-how to aspiring young Disney Channel presenters, including tips on how to submit winning entries and make it to the top. Says Morailane: “This campaign is truly a first for South Africa. I am super excited to be working with Disney Channel on this initiative and can’t wait to see what great talent Msanzi has to offer.”

Once chosen, the three local presenters will co-host I Love Violetta, which will re-live the best moments of recent Violetta episodes, anticipate what will happen next, discuss favourite characters and showcase choreography, fashion advice and more.

To recap: entries for the first phase of the talent search are now open until Friday, 12 June. Disney fans aged between 13 and 18-years-old years can log onto the website or mobisite to upload a photo or video to the site.

Once submitted and verified, entries will be reviewed and selected entrants will be invited to audition in front of the judging panel in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg. Thereafter, the finalists will be invited back to a workshop, after which the three chosen presenters will make history as they begin production on I Love Violetta, to air later in the year on Disney Channel, channel 303 on DStv.

So, if you are aged 13 to 18-years-old, love Violetta, have a fun-loving, positive attitude, submit your entries now.
