August 21, 2015 will mark two years of operations for Africa News Network (ANN7). Following the exceptional success of the ANN7 South African of the Year (SATY) 2014, the channel that continues to grow from strength to strength will host its second anniversary celebrations in the form of ANN7 South African of the Year (SATY) 2015.
In the second edition of the pioneering initiative the channel, whose mantra is to extol the extraordinary aspects of our beautiful country, will celebrate the rich heritage and diversity of South Africa for this year’s instalment of SATY 2015.
This year the theme of the SATY awards will be Unity in Diversity. The same theme is what drives us 20 years post-apartheid to realise the dreams of Madiba and many other struggle heroes.
SATY 2015 will strive to bring forth this spirit of South Africa that binds us as a nation. In the channel’s journey to SATY 2015, it will highlight and celebrate the accomplishments of achievers, who contributed across various fields to the unity and diversity of South Africa. The channel will also present stories of some of the unsung heroes working discreetly in their unique way and contributing to this society.
As a build-up to SATY 2015 the channel will again be running the TV series I am South African. The show will take viewers on an inspirational and informative journey that will evoke national pride and passion as they get to know the many incredible, formidable and notable South Africans who embody the essence of the inaugural ANN7 South African of the Year Awards.
The TV series is a carefully crafted triple-tiered communication platform and celebrates Unity In Diversity by weaving a retrospective thread from the tumultuous and devastating apartheid era to the birth of South Africa’s democracy. The show will be broadcast every day at 5pm from July 2015 and will culminate on September 26, 2015 in the ANN7 South African of the Year Awards night on DStv Channel 405.
