Legendary “Generations” producer Friedrich Stark has passed away at the age of 62.
Generations released a statement to announce the sad news. Friedrick passed away on Sunday (December 25) in Cape Town.
”The family, friends and colleagues of Friedrich Stark are deeply saddened by his sudden death. He passed away in Cape Town on Christmas day aged 62″ the statement read. ”Friedrich was an industry pioneer and active leader in the local television production industry and played a prominent role in the Independent Producers Organisation (IPO).
He will be remembered for his entrepreneurship, vision and ability to inspire and lead.”
Friedrich is also known for his work as a producer and actor on one of South Africa’s Afrikaans soap opera’s Binnelanders.
He was married to Elsje Stark and the pair was the South African power couple behind Stark Films. Friedrich started the company in 1985 when he left the SABC. The couple had three sons.
Connie Ferguson, who played Karabo Moroka in SABC1 soapie Generations, took to Twitter to share, “Just spoke with the family! So so sad! Praying for strength for the Starks, friends and colleagues #RIP FriedrichStark.”

Details of his death have not become immediately available.
