One of Idols’s fired judges, Gareth Cliff, has won a case against his employers (M-Net).
Gareth was sacked by M-Net following his comment on twitter citing that some people do not understand freedom of expression during Penny Sparrow’s racial slur hulabaloo.
He then took the matter to court challenging the employers’ actions. M-Net argued that there was no contractual relationship between them and Gareth. However, the court ruled in Gareth’s favour confirming that indeed there was a contract of employment between the litigants.
The court’s ruling means Gareth must be reinstated and start with Idols auditions 2016 which are expected to commence tommorow in Durban.
The court granted the application with costs.
