Idols South Africa is an television show (singing competition) aired on television network M-Net (DStv 101) and Mzansi Magic (DStv 161). The competition is a contest to determine the best young singer in South Africa.

4. Heinz Winckler is the first Idols SA winner and became the second Idol winner worldwide on 17 June 2002.

5. Anke Pietrangeli was first female winner of Idol SA.

6. In 2006 the English format of Idols SABtook a break to make room for the Afrikaans version (Afrikaans Idols) .

7. In 2012, Khaya Mthethwa was the first black contestant in the Idols SA’s history to win.

8. In 2015, South Africa’s choreographer, Somizi Mhlongo has joined the Idols SA XI judging panel.
