The Idols winner will go to the American Idol final! Telkom and Idols SA are also making a difference in SA schools

The winner of Idols SA Season 11 will be in the audience at the spectacular live American Idol final in the US next year. Idols SA headline sponsor Telkom has decided to up the winner’s prize by adding an all-expenses-paid trip to Los Angeles next year to witness how the American series draws to an all-time close. This means that this season’s prize package for South Africa’s new Idol will be bigger than ever before and that the winner will be accompanying the Idols fan who nabs the show’s stunning viewer’s prize.

“This is fantastic news for both the Idols winner and the millions of fans of the show,“ says M-Net’s Head of Publicity, Lani Lombard. “Telkom is truly making some dreams come true. Remember, this will be the very last episode of American Idol ever. It’s television history in the making and our South African Idol and Idols SA fan will be there when the American producers pull out all the stops to end the show on the highest note imaginable after 15 incredible seasons. Just think who might be on stage at that final – from previous winners to big-name international performers!”

Telkom in association with M-Net and Mzansi Magic, is celebrating the loyalty of Idols SA fans by jetting one fan and a friend to the 2016 American Idol final. To get their bums on that plane seat to LA and sit next to the Idols SA winner in the American Idol auditorium, Idols fans have get up to speed with their Idols SA history and trivia, and enter the quiz on the official Idols SA website at www.idolssa.tv.

Telkom and Idols SA give back to SA communities.

Meanwhile, here at home, Telkom and Top 10 Idols finalists are reaching out to fans to make a difference at schools in underprivileged communities. A couple of weeks ago the Idols SA Top 10 announced on their Facebook pages that they will be assisting Telkom in finding three schools that will each receive connectivity worth R300 000 – a total gift of R900 000 worth of ICT Connectivity!

The announcement resulted in an overwhelming response with the public nominating more than 500 worthy schools, but to give even more schools the opportunity to possibly benefit from this making-a-difference initiative, the deadline for submissions has been extended to Tuesday, 20 October at 23:59.

If you would like to nominate a high school or primary school to be considered for receiving connectivity – which includes computers, internet access, a computer room and maintenance – you can do this on any of the Idols SA Top 10 contestants’ Facebook pages, whether they’re still in the show, or not. To give the school a better chance of being selected, it will help if you also give a little bit of background about the school and their needs.
