Greed and Desire which is about The tragic journey of the prominent Makhetha family, sets a series of events in motion when the patriarch of the family is killed in a fit of rage.

THATO MOLAMU plays  Maru Makhetha


Maru is charismatic, charming, ruthless and calculating. He’s entitled and will destroy and torment those standing in the way of his new found status as a Makhetha leader.

He’s torn between two women. Tselane, a gold digger who wants money and status, and Princess Oarabile.

Thato Molamu is a South African actor and television personality best known for his starring role as Nicholas Nomvete on SABC1 soapie drama Generations.

PETER SEPHUMA plays Bongoe Makhetha


Bongoe Makhetha is Maru’s father. He’s a traditionalist and a self made business mogul. Many years ago he fell in love with someone who was considered to be lower class than him but his family wanted him to marry someone they considered to be the same class as him. His biggest disappointment in his life is Maru.

Peter Sephuma is a South African actor best known for his starring role on etv soapie drama Rhythm City as Miles Vilakazi.

MATLI MOHAPELOA plays Morakile Selebogo


Morakile is Bongoe’s adopted son and Maru’s best friend. He’s a good guy who looks up to Bongoe and the values he holds.

Matli Mohapeloa is best known for his role as Moss Cele on Mzansi Magic telenovela Zabalaza.



Tselane is Maru’s gold digging flame who’s always looking for a shortcut to status and money – she’ll do anything for them. She pretends to be rich but lives in a four room with her mother and sister who put pressure on her to succeed.

Motsoaledi Setumo is a South African radio producer and actress best known for her recurring role as Thabitha Cele, on the SABC1 soap opera Generations: The Legacy.

NTHATI MOSHESH plays Thakane Makhetha


Thakane is Bongoe’s matriarchal sister who has never married – being single has allowed her to retain her power in the family. She has been engaged before but her fiance “died”. She’s influential and traditional.

Nthati Moshesh is a South African actress best known for her leading role as Morongwe on etv soapie drama Scandal!

XOLI ZONDI plays Nqobile


Nqobile is a young entrepeur with a budding B&B business. She met Bongoe Makhetha, when she started her business and he became her business mentor.

Xoli Zondi is a South African actress best known for her starring role as Winnie in the SABC1 sitcom Family Bonds and as Zodwa in the SABC1 soapie drama Generations.

KEABY MASHUGANE plays Princess Oarabile Kgosi


The other woman in Maru’s life: his fiancé. She’s educated and very traditional.

Keaby Mashugane is a South Africa actess.

SELLO SEBOTSANE plays Atleha Makhetha


Atleha Makhetha is Bongoe and Thakane’s brother. A drunken con artist who always shows up on the day of the event. No-one is ever happy to see him but as the older brother he is expected to fulfil cultural roles. He was thrown out of the family after stealing R1-million in a scam.

Sello Sebotsane is a South African actor best known for his starring role as Philane in the SABC2 sitcom Stokvel.

LINDA SEBEZO plays Sharon Dlamini


Sharon Dlamini is Tselane’s mother.

Linda Sebezo  is a South African actress, dancer, singer and director best known for her starring role as Gogo in the SABC1 sitcom Gauteng Maboneng.

THAMI MNGQOLO plays Kenny Msomi

Kenny Msomi is a corrupt cop.

Thami Mngqolo is a South African actor best known as Senzo on SABC1 soapie drama Generations.
