A sneak peek at some of the action that will take place on Mela – SABC3 on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at 13:30
So, what will happen this weekend on “Mela”?
This week Mela focuses on people who live bold – each in his or her own way. That doesn’t mean parachuting into a rain forest with a knife between your teeth – but simply having the will to break the mould and climb out of the comfort zone.
Mela Star: Since winning the Mr South Africa title in 2012, Andrew Govender has spread his wings – with Los Angeles being his current work address. He does pop back to South Africa periodically – and Zaky decided to track him down.
Mela Music Video: Siddarth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt was a hot screen couple in “Student of the Year” – and now they’re back together in “Kapoor & Sons”. Add Fawad Khan to the mix and instead of playing gooseberry, he proves that while two’s company, three can be a very fun crowd – as you’ll see in this track from the movie.
Mela Food: There are many regional variations – but the general concept of the kebab is shared by Indian and Turkish cuisine. This inspired Chef Yudhika to experiment with other recipes from the land that for centuries has been a bridge between East and West – and she’s sharing Turkish roast leg of lamb, brinjal and chickpea pilaf and baklava cake with us today…
Mela Star Dust: The world of Indian cinema generates social media activity by the Gigabyte – and this week we’re taking a look at the hashtags that have been eating the biggest helpings of the bandwidth pie – including Bipasha Basu, Ranveer Singh, Hrithik Roshan, Kangana Ranaut and Shah Rukh Khan.
Mela Travel: According to legend, Atlantis was the island home of an advanced civilisation that fell victim to a catastrophe in the Atlantic Ocean. That’s how the story goes – but Zahirah Variawa has encountered a new Atlantis – and we’re about to share her experience.
Mela Rising Star: Art is subjective, and artists have to choose between presenting what the market demands and what they themselves feel moved to create. Devika Pillay is a painter who believes in being true to herself – and it’s something that she encourages in other budding artists, as Carishma discovered.
Mela Music Video: We sign off with “Thillu Mullu” from the movie “Gethu”.
