Liesl Laurie was crowned as Queen in the Miss South Africa 2015 pageant held at Sun City on Sunday.
She is a 24-year-old model, who is also a B.Com graduate, and hails from Eldorado Park in Johannesburg.
She is passionate about charity and, on her profile on on the official Miss South Africa website, said, “I have been working with a number of non-profit organisations that include Babies Behind Bars and Pilgrim Oasis Community Children’s Outreach in Eldorado Park and adjacent informal settlement in Kliptown.”
The finale was a glamorous event with musical acts like Gangs of Ballet, Sterling EQ, Beatenberg and AKA. Apart from the platinum crown made by Jack Friedman jewellers, the winner also received a prize package worth R2m.

Ntsiki Mkhize was crowned 2nd princess and Refilwe Mthimunye 1st princess.
? Liesl Laurie is 24 and comes from Eldorado Park, in Johannesburg and graduated with a B.Com General Degree from the University of Johannesburg (Soweto Campus). After graduating, she decided to take the rest of the year off from university to pursue a full time career in modelling and also to embark on her journey of giving back to her community and country.

? Refilwe Mthimunye is 22 and comes from Bronkhorstspruit in Tshwane. She was busy doing her 3rd year in LLB Law at the University of South Africa when she heard she had made the Miss South Africa 2015 Top 12. The reason she is studying law, she says, is that she feels that to be a great leader and politician one needs to know the laws oneself. “I’m doing my degree part time as I was also pursuing a modelling career with the help of Alushi Models Management.
So far she has successfully combined her two passions.
She was Miss Sundown’s 2nd princess in 2013 and was also placed as 2nd princess in 2012 for Miss Varsity College, Pretoria.
? Ntsiki Mkhize is 23 and comes from Kliprivier, Midvaal, and holds a BCom Marketing Management and a BCom Honours in Logistics Management from the University of Johannesburg. After obtaining her undergraduate degree, she began working in sales as a client executive at 21st Century Pay Solutions Group. This was prior to her recent appointment as partnerships and events manager for Small Business Connect. She loved this position as she felt it was a perfect outlet for her passion for small business and entrepreneurship, particularly among African youth and women.
Now she wants to wear the Miss South Africa crown!
