Nail-biting first eliminations on BET’s Top Actor SA

SA-ACTORThe first episode of BET’s brand new reality format Top Actor SA ended with a shock surprise last night (9 April) as not one but two actors were eliminated.

Top Actor airs weekly on BET (DStv Premium, channel 129), every Thursday at 19:55 CAT.

The show, hosted by South African film and television star Zikhona Sodlaka (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Generations) is putting a dramatic new spin on the reality genre as it aims to find the hottest new actor in SA.

Joe Kazadi (24) and Ayanda Sibisi (28) were the first contestants to leave Top Actor SA  in its first ever eviction. The double elimination saw the duo being sent home after a gruelling three-hour rehearsal and performance of a scene from a play by Antandwa Kani, a.k.a. “The Prince of Theatre”, in front of judges and audience.

BET handpicked twelve of the best up and coming actors in the country to battle it out on camera in front of big industry names from Hollywood and South Africa. At stake? The chance to win the title “Top Actor SA”, and a career-launching prize package that includes R100,000, international management representation and a professional role in an upcoming South Africa television/movie production.
