Richelieu Beaunoir wins round 2 of Comedy Central’s Roast Battle

Comedian Richelieu Beaunoir gave his fellow comics a proper toasting at the Comedy Central Roast Battle held at Parker’s, Montecasino (Thursday 30 July).  The poker-faced comedian smoked out fellow stand-ups Lihle Lindzy, Robby Collins, Gavin Kelly, Alyn Adams and Ebenhaezer Dibakwane with a series of scorching one-liners, epic takedowns and blazing insults.

Presided over by acerbic host John Vlismas with Nonhle Thema as the evenings MC, the six comedians battled it out in front of a live audience and judges Anele Mdoda and Joe Parker to win the Roast Battle honours. The battle lines were drawn up with Lindzy facing Collins, Kelly going head to head against Adams, and Dibakwane jousting against Beaunoir.

Commented Chris Torline, Director of Marketing & Digital Media, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa, “All the contestants put up a good fight, but Richelieu used red hot, original one-liners that floored his opponents and really set a new benchmark in our fun, new combat-driven comedy event.”

Roast Battle will premiere exclusively on Comedy Central (DStv channel 122) later in the year.
