On Thursday Monte Casino in Johannesburg went fully Eurasian, when it hosted the grand opening ceremony of the Russian Film Week. The Film Week is organised by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Russian Embassy in South Africa.
Guests included representatives from the Russian Embassy, as well as the Russian filmmakers and their associates. Post the opening ceremony, guests were invited to the official screening of the first movie, “Battle for Sevastopol”, directed by Sergey Mokritskiy.
Screenings for the Russian Film Week will be from October 22nd to October 25th 2015, at Monte Casino. The program has a line-up of modern Russian movies of different genres and entrance is free.
“Russian Film Week is aimed at strengthening of bilateral relations in the filet of culture and cinematography between Russia and South Africa. The Film Week is a logical continuation of acquaintances of the African audience with multi-faceted Russian culture”, says Mr. Alexander Kulyaev, Press Officer at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of South Africa.

Producer Natalia Mokritskaya, directors Alexander Kott and Eugene Abizov, actors Michael Gorevoy, Egor Beroev and Denis Shvedov.
