SABC Education’s ‘Living Land’ pays tribute to MEC Joy Matshoge

SABC Education and the agricultural television show, Living Land, have expressed their shock at the news of the untimely death of Limpopo Department of Agriculture MEC Joy Matshoge.

MEC Matshoge was a shining light in the local agricultural arena and her uncompromising passion and determination to improve the plight of smallholder farmers in her province will never be forgotten. She always went out of her way to assist the media, because she understood the importance of promoting the cause of small-scale farmers, as well as their own need to receive information. Her tireless efforts on behalf of farmers were an example to all public servants.

Apart from always having an open door, MEC Matshoge willingly gave of her time to participate in organised information sharing sessions, hosted by SABC Education and Living Land, between Limpopo emerging farmers and relevant stakeholders during the Polokwane Shows. She was also well known for her zeal in encouraging young people to choose careers in agriculture.

SABC Education’s Cookie Mona, commissioning editor of Living Land, says “this fine leader will be sorely missed. On behalf of the media, farmers and viewers, we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends and colleagues. Being an enthusiastic farmer, MEC Matshoge sincerely loved the land. She will always be remembered as a true daughter of the soil.”

Producers of Living Land kindly compiled a tribute to MEC Matshoge which you can watch below!
