“She’s The One” Reality Series Reveals Winner

STO-016Johannesburg-based fashion stylist and model Linda Sifumba has been announced as the winner of SABC 3’s She’s The One. With her new-found exposure on the inaugural season of the show and a cool R1 million worth of prizes, Linda has earned a leg up to launch her into the fashion and media industry.

“I am so overwhelmed at winning and grateful to Edgars for giving me the platform to be ‘The One’ and follow my dreams”, said Linda.

The locally produced original reality series from Edgars and Cheeky Media has captured the imagination of the nation with twelve dynamic contestants battling it out to prove that they had what it takes to be ‘The One’.

Linda and the other contestants had to endure a gauntlet of real life media-inspired tasks and were judged by well-known comedienne and television personality Tumi Morake and media mogal Kojo Baffoe. Each week they were joined by a slew of guest celebrity judges that ranged from actress Pearl Thusi to fashion designer Craig Jacobs.

Weekly elimination rounds saw nine of the contestants being told ‘You are not the one’ by host Lunga Shabalala. The show’s final episode kicked off with Lunga welcoming viewers to the competition’s red carpet grand finale.

“By the end of tonight, either Samantha, Pelisha or Linda will walk away with a million rand in prizes and the title of “She’s The One”. The question is – who will it be?”, he said.

The three finalists stood arm in arm waiting to hear the words they had been longing for throughout the show. You could hear a pin drop until, finally, Edgars Marketing Executive Belinda Godfrey, broke the tension with the following: ‘The winner of She’s The One… is… Linda!’

Finally, to an audience of all the show’s season one contestants, judges, friends, family in the crowd, and fans of the television show, Linda heard the words the top three finalists had been longing to hear all season – ‘You are The One’.

“Linda now has a vehicle to be an inspiration to so many young girls who didn’t believe in their abilities. In my mind she deserves it 100%,” said Lunga.

A Unanimous Decision

The judges unanimously felt that Linda had the savvy, style and heart they were looking for. She was judged not only on her performance in the final challenge but also on her personal growth along the way.

“It was one of the highlights of the show for me to watch Linda announced as the winner and see that kind of humility, where you are not pretending to be surprised, you are genuinely floored and shocked by the fact that you’re held in such high regard,” said judge Tumi Morake

According to Janez Vermeiren, the executive producer of the show, the judges had a difficult decision to make, as all the contestants had impressive attributes, but there was something about Linda that always made her stand out.

“There’s just a special quality about Linda”, he said. “From the very first time I saw her I just had this feeling that she was “The One”, before the competition even started”
Having proved her mettle, Linda walks away with over a R1 million in prizes that includes R250 000 cash, a nifty Ford Figo from Edgars Club, an all expenses paid business class trip for two courtesy of Swiss Air and a years’ supply of fashion and make-up from Edgars and Black Up.

As second runner up, Pelisha Somiah was awarded R30 000 in fashion and cosmetics from Edgars and as first runner up, Samantha Feher was awarded R50 000 in fashion and cosmetics from Edgars.

Season 2 of She’s The One Ahead

She’s The One was created by fashion retailer Edgars and local production company Cheeky Media, headed by Janez Vermeiren and Yusuf Stevens. The purpose of the reality series was to find a woman who’s got what it takes to make it big in the local media industry, while making a difference in South Africa. The series has proved hugely popular and has been picked up by SABC 3 for its second season later in 2015.
Linda will be making an appearance on the show once again, this time as a guest judge.
