The top 13 contestants for 2016 TLC Next Great Presenter have been revealed!
The judging panel which includes: actress, MC, radio and TV personality, Thando Thabethe; Head of Content at Multichoice, Aletta Alberts; editor of ZAlebs.com, Zee Dladla; celebrity publicist and communications strategist, Jarred Doyle, and Vice President of Brand and Content for Discovery Networks CEEMEA, Lee Hobbs will now be tasked with whittling down the “Lucky 13” semi-finalists to Top 6 at the end of Day 3 and Top 3 at the end of Day 4 of boot camp.
Meet the Top 13 contestants:
21-year-oldstudent Tumisang Mokalake hails from Gaborone, Botswana. Tumisang says the three reasons that she should be TLC’s Next Great Presenter are “One, I love the channel. Two, I have a face for television; and three, I have the talent to back it up.”
Vintage flared Carissa Cupido, is a radio presenter, voice over artist and MC. The 23-year-old Capetonian is always either consuming entertainment or creating it. “I am passionate, driven, spirited and never afraid to ask questions.”
Tenacious and fast learning Roxanne Jamie Kalie is from Cape Town, South Africa. The 26-year-old model and actress says,” The only competition I’m in is with myself”. She’s relatable, charismatic, has a great sense of humour and loves connecting with people.
Pietermaritzburg bred Sade Wagner is a 22-year-old actress who is ready to make her dreams a reality. In her own words “The TLC Next Great Presenter is my competition to win.” With a fashion sense that ranges from quirky college kid to elegant church girl, Sade is ready to conquer this competition.
Nirvana Nokwe-Mseleku is a 20-year-old from the city of gold, Johannesburg. A girl of many talents she is a student, performing artist, photographer and musician. She promises to bring a natural flavour-flavour to your screens and this is why you will love her. “I believe everyone has what it takes to do and achieve anything! I believe that now, is my time”.
The very bubbly Kananelo Phakisi comes from Maseru, Lesotho. At 23 years old this public relations consultant a self-proclaimed TLC fan. “I’m ready to make this happen! With my dazzling smile and style, I believe I have what it takes to keep viewers glued to the screen.”
Port Elizabeth’s very own Mikaela Oosthuizen is a 20-year-old student who believes she should be TLC Next Great Presenter because she has a deep passion for connecting and communicating with people. She believes her extensive experience in television, radio, modelling and acting is what will give her the confidence to become a valuable asset to the TLC team. “My sincere and welcoming personality is what will make me relatable to the audience.”
26-year-old ‘chocolate-dynamite’ as she refers to herself Nosipho Mkhize is from Johannesburg. Nosipho has a killer smile and an afro-centric style who can’t wait to show TLC what she has to offer. “TLC speaks to real people, tells inspiring stories and I know I will bring in a new and different energy to the channel”.
Television presenting means the world to Joburg based 23-year-old Nozipho Mbhele. With a 24/7 ear to ear showbiz smile and a fashion style that oozes confidence all Nozipho wants to be is herself, this is why she would like to become TLC’s Next Great Presenter. “I live and breathe TV presenting! I’ve dedicated my whole life to grow and sharpen my craft. I’m energetic, fun and hardworking and I believe that’s what it takes.”
Martins Benson Junior is a 32-year old Nigerian born media personality. Best described as bold, articulate, versatile, and confident with a bit of crazy and lots of swag, Martins says he’s the ideal candidate to be TLC’s Next Great Presenter. “I am everything TLC is looking for in this competition and even more, plus I am artistically unpredicatble
25-year-old actor and entertainer Charlie Karumi hails from Nairobi, Kenya. He loves all things entertainment and believes the public will love his killer smile. He loves all things TLC and can’t wait to be a part of the competition. “I feel thrilled to have been selected. TLC is arguably the biggest and most successful lifestyle entertainment channel – it’s the big league, and when you get a chance to play in the big league, you take it and run!”
Daniel Ifeanyichukwu is 22 years old and says lifestyle is everything. “I am spontaneous, creative and I think on the spot” . With a charming smile and an engaging personality Daniel is excited to bring all he’s got to TLC.
The show set to premieres on TLC Entertainment (DStv 135) in earlier 2017.
