The acclaimed second season of Ugly Betty will be screened in October on Sony Channel (DStv Channel 127) at 19:05 weekday. America Ferrera is back as the quintessential plain Jane, Betty Suarez – and this time she’s brighter, bolder and unquestionably Bettyer. ??In this hit dramedy series that has gained an avid cult following since it originally aired, quirky, perky Mexican-American go-getter Betty is determined not to let her lack of style stop her from getting ahead in the cut-throat, glamorous world of fashion magazine publishing.
Season two of this Emmy and Golden Globe-winning hit show features a catwalk of guest stars, including fashion mavens Vera Wang, Victoria Beckham and Naomi Campbell. Also look out for cameos by the likes of Golden Girl Betty White, KISS rocker Gene Simmons and former talk show host Larry King. ??In addition to compelling new storylines, a highlight of this season is the hilarious repartee between bitchy receptionist Amanda Tanen (Becki Newton) and flamboyant editorial assistant Marc St James (Michael Urie) as they spitefully tease the brace-laden Betty. Here are some choice appetisers:
Marc St James: What, you think he’s out of my league? He’s a nine, I’m an eight. ?Amanda Tanen: He’s a ten, you’re a six.?Marc St James: You’re a bitch, I’m a seven!
Amanda Tanen: Betty, Gio loves you! ?Marc St James: And that’s a direct quote from a stall in the men’s room.
Yet more sniggers are to be had in the second season of Scrubs, which starts on Sony Channel on Friday, 9 October 2015 at 18:35 and continues on weekdays thereafter. This was the highest rated season of the popular medical comedy series, averaging almost 16 million viewers per episode in the United States.
In this season, Dr John “JD” Dorian (Zach Braff) and his fellow medical interns have graduated to resident doctors at Sacred Heart Hospital, setting the scene for more romantic shenanigans, one-night stands, misdiagnoses, hypochondriacs, night shifts… and the birth of a baby. ??In this fast-paced series packed with comical and sometimes surreal vignettes, look out for guest appearances by Ryan Reynolds, Heather Locklear, DL Hughley, John Ritter, Dick van Dyke, illusionist David Copperfield and even former child star Rick Schroder. ??So, scrub down and dress up, because there’s certainly nothing “ugly” about this double dose of comedy capers every weekday in October: Scrubs at 18:35 and Ugly Betty at 19:05 on Sony Channel, broadcast on DStv channel 127.
