South Africa’s entertainment industry celebrates Vuzu AMP’s first birthday
Last night, over 400 of South Africa’s biggest entertainment stars and media people gathered to celebrate Vuzu AMP’s (DStv channel 114) first birthday. Following a two-week outpour of birthday shout-outs from various celebrities including: Bonang, Proverb, Victoria Kimani, Stilo Magolide, Somizi Mhlongo, Minnie Dlamini, Cassper Nyovest, Khanyi Mbau and others, the birthday celebrations culminated in a massive bash at the trendy Level Three venue in Sandton.
Guests were entertained by a star-studded line-up which included: DJ Tira, Riky Rick and Stilo Magolide, Black Motion and rappers Dream Team. There was a blast from the past throwback from the king of kwaito Spikiri, with hip hop superstar AKA headlining the show, followed by DJ Dimplez who closed off the gig.
“Vuzu AMP has firmly positioned itself at the pulse of entertainment and urban youth culture, and the buzz we’ve seen all month around our birthday attests to that. We’ve increased our premier local productions and seen massive growth in the viewership numbers. This, coupled with the increasing Express from the US international hits we’re bringing viewers will keep the brand relevant, premium, and out of this world,” stated M-Net’s Local Interest Channels Director Nkateko Mabaso.
Vuzu AMP is a pioneer of youth-focused entertainment and in its first year brought viewers popular local shows like: Ayeye, Rich Kids, Dineo’s Diary and The Hustle. The year ahead promises much excitement with shows like 10 Over 10 and Forever Young making a return, alongside a massive addition to the V-Entertainment presenter line-up.
