What time are the SAFTAs 2016?


It’s South Africa film and television’s biggest night once again: The 10th edition of South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) 2016 will take place tomorrow night, Sunday (March n20), to bestow numerous gilded gramophones on the film and television industry’s ‘best of the best’.


What time does the show start? What Channel?

As usual, the South African Film and Television Awards ceremony will have splashy performances take place and the winners in the major, more general categories are revealed.

This year’s main event will be held at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg from 08:00 to 10:30 p.m.  It will be broadcasted live on on SABC2 and on Mzansi Magic.

Who is hosting?

SABC3 breakfast show ‘Expresso’ presenster, Katlego Maboe will host the awards ceremony.

SA Idols judge, Somizi Mhlongo and entertainment journalist Nadia Neophytou will host the red carpet.

TV personalities Bonang Matheba and Maps Maponyane will be covering the red carpet event for E! Beyond the Red Carpet: SAFTAs.

The nominees

The Emmy-nominated satirical comedy show, ZA News: Puppet Nation, leads the list with 11 nominations, while acclaimed SABC 3 sitcom Those Who Can’t received nine nominations.
